Lucy Leonard - RIP

Lucy Leonard 1992 - 2007 R. I. P.

Lucy Leonard was rescued from the home of the late Miss Miriam Leonard, following the death of Miss Leonard in 2004. She was know affectionately as ’Granny Grump’, although officially she was called Lucy Leonard. Granny Grump, was found after the first day with us, to have a very difficult personality and with this, and with her dietary requirements, it was found impossible to re-home her. Her sole diet of Struvite, did not suit her avaricious hunger and we found that she could tolerate sliced chicken and tuna, although she longer for normal cat food, which proved almost fatal when she was given this (we spent a week cleaning out the pen !)

After various discussions with Karen Waskett of Royal Canin and several generous donations of RC dried food, we experimented and it was soon found that she could have a most varied diet of Royal Canin biscuits - and this suited her stomach and she could have very happily the Tesco hot cooked chicken which she loved.

She spent a most happy time over at Chevington, enjoying the freedom of the garden, her new found diet - and could be stroked, sat on laps, brushed, combed - all very carefully, I have to add. Our relationship was built on trust on both sides and a great deal of respect from me.

On 5th September 2007, Lucy Leonard was diagnosed with an untreatable tumour and passed away from us. She received wonderful respect from Josh Lida and the team and from the Suffolk Pet Crematorium, at Saxham, and her ashes remain at Chevington at present.

Jancis Harvey
